Asante sana na karibu tena (thank you for stopping by and visit again)
Jambo rafiki ( Swahili for Hello Friend), Thank you for stopping by to learn more about The Maasai Market! The Maasai Market is a family-run business specializing in imports from East Africa--mostly Kenya. We have been selling on eBay since 2002 and have established a good reputation, which is reflected by positive customer feedback.
The merchandise we sell are guaranteed to be authentic. Sales directly benefit the local African men and women who handcraft each item. We purchase our merchandise without a middle man, which translates to a good deal for you and fair pay to the artist for their hard work.
I was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya and moved into the United States in 1998. With lots of family and friends in Kenya who were always in need of money, I decided to find ways that I could help them support themselves. That is when The Maasai Market was started. Family members and friends would make items and I would sell them. Most of my family has since moved to the United States, but we still have local African artists that we purchase from who depend on our business. We are very fair as to what we pay the artist (normally we pay their asking price). The business is run by our family out of our home in Salt Lake City, Utah. My wife, who was born and raised in Oregon, as well as my children, have found participation in this venture to be a great way to learn about my culture.
We are passionate about our business and the products we offer. We want you to be a returning customer and will do our utmost to provide the best customer service possible. We will do anything we can to quickly and fairly resolve any problems that may arise. Please contact us with any questions or concerns--we are happy to address them!
